Gypsum mineral introduction

what is gypsum?

gypsum stone

Gypsum or Calcium sulfate with the formulation of (Caso4 2h2o) is a mineral which is used in various industries. The extraction phases are pretty appealing and are completely classified by scientific means. The products of this process are not similar and have numerous applications. Building Plaster is the most well-known between the gypsum products and has the most general use. We have all experienced seeing or using them, but only scientists are aware of their true differences and outputs.

Different usage of gypsum in industry

From building plaster and bleaching, to miniature industry and medicine, there are aspects which are different from the first material. such as the degree of purification, erosion and screening. Also, it seems like some chemical processes that are performed will affect the quality and its final value. About structural materials, several factors can influence the condition and the product’s last price. Some of these attributes which can be named are.

  1. A) Low weight and high solidity
  2. B) Acoustic traits: plastering is used as a means to build acoustic spaces and insulation for sound pollution.
  3. C) Heat and flame insulator
  4. D) Humidity insulator
  5. E) Reasonable price: plaster does have a fair cost comparing to other materials. therefore, it is easy to find in a lot of situations.

Depending on the gypsum kind, some traits have been highlighted and decreased the importance of the others. For instance, in sculpting we need high degree of plasticity. whereas in the stonework, a higher level of the solidity is needed. However, in the general use, the price is more important than other attributes. Other usages of the gypsum in industry.

  1. Construction industry: molding, mortaring, coating and bleaching, construction insulation and partition
  2. Architecture: molding, sculpting etc
  3. Porcelain making industry: molding and ceramic, tile and ceramic dishes
  4. Medicine and pharmaceutics: bandage and medical plaster, drug preparation, tooth molding
  5. Pharmaceutical industry: effective in cultivation and growth of pharmaceutical yeast
  6. Foodstuffs: the growth of edible bacteria is strengthened in the presence of minerals.
  7. Petrochemical industry: as an immediate dryer
  8. Glass manufacture and casting: fire proof plaster and its impact on viscosity
  9. Agriculture: chemical fertilizer, pesticide, soil ventilation, the effect of gypsies in agriculture, securing the needed amount of Calcium for soil, neutralizing the Sodium’s alkaline effect and securing the Sulfur for soil
