gypsum board Production (panels)
Gypsum boards or panels (plaster boards) are a general name for products prepared by mixing water and gypsum in which the gypsum particles are finer than building gypsum.
The upper surface of all these gypsum-based panels is coated with other materials such as paper or fiberglass. Prefabricated gypsum walls are constructed as integrated panels. Gypsum and other additives are first mixed with water and poured on the panel paper. The paper on the other side of the panel is then placed on the gypsum paste, and the panel thickness is determined at this stage. Primary and secondary gypsum setting occurs along the production line. The panel specifications are then printed by the printer on the back of the panel, and the board is then cut to the predetermined length. The panels enter the dryer to evaporate excess water and then packaged as pallets and supplied to the market.
Types of gypsum panels
Gypsum panels have a gypsum core, and a specific paper coats their surface and longitudinal edges. Gypsum boards are produced and supplied in the form of regular (RG or GKB), moisture-resistant (MR or GKBI), fire-resistant (FR or GKF), fire and moisture-resistant (FM or GKFI), and moisture, fire, and impact-resistant (Diamant) boards. Depending on the required function, various types of plasterboards can be used in drywall systems.
Regular gypsum (RG) panels
Regular gypsum panels are generally used in dry construction systems (such as partition walls, panel walls, and suspended ceilings). These panels have a cream-colored coating that a blue or black seal is printed along the middle axis on the back of boards.
Moisture-resistant (MR) panels
Gypsum used to prepare these panels is mixed with moisture-resistant additives. MR panels are used in humid environments such as kitchens and bathrooms. MR panels have a green coating that a blue seal is printed along the middle axis on the back of boards.
Fire-resistant (FR) panels
Gypsum used for preparing FR panels contains fiberglass. FR panels are used in spaces that should be protected against fire, such as steel columns and beams, corridor walls, and fire escape. FR panels have a pink coating that red or a black seal is printed along the middle axis on the back of boars.
Fire and moisture-resistant (FM) panels
Gypsum used for preparing FM panels contains fiberglass and moisture-resistant additives. FM panels are used in spaces that should be simultaneously protected against fire and moisture (such as facility wells). FM panels have a green coating that a red or black seal is printed along the middle axis on the back of boards.
Diamant gypsum panels
Diamant panels are formed of a saturated gypsum core and a blue-colored high strength paper coating on both sides. Diamant panels with high mechanical strength can be used in spaces requiring high impact properties such as school walls while preserving acoustic and thermal insulation and fire resistance properties.
